Why is consistency especially important for interactive fiction?

In interactive fiction, readers vote to shape the plot over many chapters. If names, events, or the world change randomly between chapters, the experience breaks. We treat each story as one continuous narrative: same characters, same rules, same timeline. Consistency is what makes reader choices feel meaningful and the story worth following.

What do we check before publishing a chapter?

• Chapter order: we only publish the next chapter in sequence once the previous one is complete and published.
• Contradictions: we check that new events do not contradict what was already established in earlier chapters.
• Character consistency: names, roles, and traits stay aligned with the story settings and prior chapters.
• World-building: we ensure that the story world and its rules are not broken or ignored in new content.

How do we handle incomplete chapters?

If a chapter is not yet in a complete, readable state (e.g. translation or illustration is still in progress), it is not published. Unpublished chapters do not appear on the homepage recommendation area and are not used as the entry point for new readers. Only chapters that meet our completeness criteria are shown publicly. This keeps the reading experience consistent and avoids showing half-finished content.
